Home of Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, World's Busiest Airport and the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC)
TYPE OF OWNERSHIP: Public-Private
OPENING DATE: September 2010
DESCRIPTION:
In conjunction with the City of College Park, Ga., Grove Street Partners will serve as master developer for a $230 million mixed-use project that will bring approximately 1.1 million square feet of office, retail and hotel space to the Gateway Center near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The new development is positioned adjacent to the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC), a 400,000-square-foot facility with 49 acres of landscaped greenspace that is the cornerstone to Gateway Center. Located a half-mile from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Gateway Center
is the first stop on the airport's expanded ATL Skytrain system, which
opened in November 2009 and marks the first expansion of the airport's internal transit system outside of Hartsfield-Jackson. The
ATL Skytrain also will connect the airport to a consolidated car rental area, CONRAC, west of Gateway Center and the airport.
Gateway Center's master plan calls for a 403-room Marriott Headquarters Hotel and a 147-room SpringHill Suites hotel.
Additionally, Grove Street will develop four Class-A office buildings totaling 468,000 square feet. The first office building is a five-story development totaling 135,000 square feet.
Gateway Center Office Building One opened in December 2009. Gateway Center also will include retail development and restaurant out parcels totaling more than 75,000 square feet.
The new mixed-use development complements the GICC, which opened in 2004 and offers Georgia's newest and most technologically advanced meeting space, as well as the largest ballroom in the state at 40,000 square feet.
